TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Greater Jakarta transportation agency (BPTJ) on Tuesday announced that it is amidst preparing an app that provides its users with information related to the spread of COVID-19 dubbed the L-Cov. This app is targeted for Greater Jakarta transportation users.

BPTJ Head Polana B. Pramesti claims that one of the upsides of the COVID-19 tracker is the ‘street monitoring’ feature where it enables its users to track potential COVID-19 routes that a person might enter.

“Through the feature ‘street monitoring’ users will be able to know the potential spread of COVID-19 in real-time throughout the route they are passing through,” said the BPTJ head in today’s press release.

Polana claims the app would later be able to show records of confirmed COVID-19 cases down to people suspected to be carrying the virus.

“In the future, there will be QR code technology to scan transportation vehicles,” Polana said.

According to the BPTJ, the L-Covid will be introduced on Wednesday, June 10, which will only be available in Andoird’s Playstore for its initial release. Other platforms will follow according to Polana.
