TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil announced at Monday's press conference that businesses operating in the province’s blue level zones are permitted to resume operations.

“Last week we saw houses of worship [reopened] in blue and green zones. This week we will see industries and offices reopened,” said Ridwan Kamil at the press conference.

According to the governor, the process is taken gradually as the area is preparing to adapt to the new normal concept of living post-COVID-19. Each step and reintroduction of public activities have a week between each announcement.

The first seven days saw houses of worship, the following seven-days will be granted to low-risk economies such as industries and offices. Trades such as cafes, restaurants, and similar businesses will actually be permitted next week said the governor.

Tourism will also be reintroduced post-pandemic, however, Ridwan Kamil maintained that it would be safer for outdoor tourism to reopen rather than indoor tourist attractions such as midnight entertainment areas, movie theaters, and similar businesses.

“Because in South Korea, the second wave of infections came from indoor tourism activities, nightclubs, and similar businesses,” said Ridwan Kamil.
