PSBB Transition; Odd-Even Policy Yet to Be Imposed, Anies Says

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan confirmed that the odd-even policy will be enacted if the number of residents leaving the houses is out of control. Anies said the traffic system is one of the emergency policies that will be taken if there is a hike in Covid-19 cases.
“If it is not needed, we will not enforce it,” said Anies in a voice recording after inspecting the intermode integration point of MRT-Commuter Line (KRL)-Transjakarta-Airport train at Terowongan Kendal (Kendal Tunnel), Sudirman, Central Jakarta, Monday, June 8.
Anies claimed his side had prepared two policies for emergency situation. First, the emergency brake policy in which the government will stop the large-scale social restriction or PSBB transition period and the odd-even traffic policy.
“The two policies are for control purposes. We will review the number of Covid-19 cases and the number of people traveling. If it’s necessary, we will adopt it,” he added.
Based on the Jakarta Gubernatorial Regulation No. 57/2020 on the PSBB transition period, the city administration will manage public transportation, including the implementation of the odd-even traffic system for two- and four-wheeled vehicles.
“If the odd-even policy is imposed, a governor’s decree will be passed,” said Anies Baswedan.
