TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo said that he did not want to rush to implement the new normal policy in his province. "We now practice it first," said Ganjar in a teleconference on Thursday, June 4, 2020.

Ganjar said that people of Central Java neglected and refused to stay home during the Covid-19 pandemic. He was even informed that thousands of people still organize prayers at mosques.

Ganjar added that Central Java still experienced a fluctuating number of Covid-19 cases, with no indication of declining. Therefore, he would keep disseminating information and educating the public about health protocols.

"We are still guiding people to understand what a new normal era is, the new habits. [For example] people must wear face masks when leaving homes and bring hand sanitizer in their pockets," Ganjar said.

Based on the Covid-19 mitigation task force data as of June 4, 2020, Central Java has 1,479 positive cases with 372 recoveries and 71 deaths.
