Jakarta Announces Schools to Resume on July 13

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Education Agency announced the first day of the school for the 2020/2021 academic year will start on July 13, 2020. This policy applies to students in preschools or PAUD, kindergarten (TK) to senior high schools (SMA) as mandated in the agency’s decree No. 467/2020 concerning the 2020/2021 academic calendar.
“The 2020/2021 school year begins Monday, July 13, 2020, and ends on Friday, June 25, 2021,” said the Education Agency Head Nahdiana in a statement quoted by Tempo on Thursday, May 28, 2020.
Nahdiana inked the letter on April 28, 2020, which was uploaded on the agency’s site disdik.jakarta.go.id. The Education Agency establishes the first day of school entry for new students of preschools to senior high schools and vocational high schools will commence on July 13, 2020, as well.
According to her, new students will undergo orientation period or MPLS for the first three days, until July 15, 2020. Meanwhile, the learning activities will kick off on Thursday, July 16, 2020.
Previously, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan decided to close all schools in the capital city from March 16, 2020, in an effort to prevent transmission of the coronavirus that caused Covid-19. As a result, the learning process is carried out online.
