TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Air carriers under the management of Lion Air Group, namely Lion Air, Batik Air, and Wings Air have temporarily stopped flight operations for five days from May 27 to 31.

This was announced by Lion Air Group Corporate Communications Strategic, Danang Mandala Prihantoro in a press release on Wednesday, May 27. “We have temporarily stopped scheduled domestic passenger flights.”

He further explained in the release that the decision is heavily based on the company’s evaluation of previous flight services which showed a large amount of misunderstanding and incomprehension of the rules from the passengers regarding air travel amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Through this, Lion Air concludes that potential passengers need additional dissemination regarding the rules to abide by before traveling by plane,” said Danang. “People have yet fully understood how to fulfill the documents and where they should obtain such documents.”

The documents in question are a set of permits that passengers need to show air service providers that clear them of COVID-19 prior to boarding an airplane. Lion Air Group has decided to conduct intensive dissemination of these sets of rules for the next five days from Wednesday to Sunday before reopening its domestic passenger flight services.
