TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Governor of Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria said that he will discuss sanctions for mosques that held Eid Al-Fitr prayer. Riza said that the people have been reminded not to gather outside their houses during the Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) period.

"Will be discussed later. We have announced that there should be no gatherings," Riza said when contacted by Tempo on Sunday, May 24, 2020.

Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) and the Indonesian Mosque Council (DMI) in Jakarta, according to Riza, has instructed people to conduct Eid prayer in their own house. The instruction was originated from Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan.

"So all residents have warned the other residents. Leaders and the Governor had also conveyed instruction that people should pray at home with their family," Riza said.

However, Eid prayers are still being held at mosques. From information gathered by Tempo, a number of mosques can be seen organizing Ied prayers, such as the Miftahul Huda Mosque on Jalan Dr. Soetomo, West Jakarta; and An Nawier Pekojan Mosque in West Jakarta.
