Central Task Force, Anies Team Up to Face Second Wave of Covid-19

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The national Covid-19 Task Force Head Doni Monardo said his side was coordinating with Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan about the potential of a heavy returning flow of people to the capital city after Eid exodus or mudik Lebaran.
The people are feared to be the new coronavirus carrier, while the Jakarta administration was still striving to suppress the number of positive cases.
“We report to the president that the next potential of coronavirus threat [may occur] after Lebaran, where Jakartans have already returned to their hometowns before the ban on mudik,” said Doni via a teleconference on Wednesday, May 20.
According to Doni, before and after the Lebaran holiday is a critical period. If the public wants to get back to the new normal of life immediately, he added, all of them are expected to comply with the Covid-19 protocols for the last two weeks of the Large-Scale Social Restrictions or PSBB period.
The National Police are also urged to take firm actions against people violating the PSBB and the health protocols.
“If many people insist on creating gatherings, how can we assure that there will be no second wave [of the coronavirus infection]?” Doni said.
