TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Public Order Agency or Satpol PP appealed to the public to comply with the large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) order. The agency head Arifin believed people had much to learn from the gathering at the closure of McDonald's Sarinah on Sunday, May 10, 2020.

“People should be aware to follow the PSBB orders issued by the provincial administration via Gubernatorial Regulation (Pergub) No. 33/2020,” said Arifin on Thursday, May 14. He also asked residents who joined the farewell to perform individual isolation as they have violated the health protocols.

Arifin claimed that his side had difficulties at detecting those people because the officers immediately dispersed the crowd. “We don’t know where they come from because we instantly dispersed them that night. So it is hard for us to conduct a quarantine as we need to know their identities first,” he explained.

The self-isolation practice for 14 days, the incubation period of the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), is necessary to prevent further spreading of the new virus, moreover, if the people did not recognize being infected after the gathering.

Previously, the Jakarta administration imposed a fine of up to Rp10 million to the management of McDonald's Sarinah for overlooking the PSBB orders during its closure, which eventually attracted a crowd.
