TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Doni Monardo, the head of the Covid-19 mitigation task force, clarified that the regulation on the prohibition of annual mass exodus or mudik is not revised, dismissing issues that the rule has been relaxed.

“Mudik is banned. That’s it!” Doni asserted during a press conference broadcasted live via television stations on Wednesday, May 6.

However, the task force issued a circular letter No. 4/2020 noting the restriction of people’s movement during the coronavirus pandemic after commercial transportations are allowed to operate on certain conditions.

“There are several conditions [for people to travel]. These are valid for those having certain needs, state officials, employees working in areas related to the handling of the coronavirus,” Doni added.

According to him, people willing to travel during the enforcement of the Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) must obtain a permit from their employers whose level is equal to echelon II or the office heads. While entrepreneurs are obliged to obtain a stamped letter under the approval of heads of the village and subdistrict.

Moreover, people must bring with them a doctor’s notice from nearby hospitals or community health centers that proves their health after passing the Covid-19 rapid test and PCR. They are also obliged to wear masks, maintain physical distancing and hygiene. “They must also show their round-trip ticket,” Doni said.
