TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo on Wednesday inaugurated the former National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar as the Head of the National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT).

Boy Rafli replaces former BNPT head Comm. Gen. Suhardi Alius.

As other state-ceremonies conducted amidst the coronavirus pandemic, this one was also held briefly and strictly abided by COVID-19 health protocols with president Jokowi congratulating Boy Rafli without any physical contact.

Boy Rafli Amar has a lengthy track record within the National Police institution prior to his appointment as BNPT head. Apart from being the police spokesman, Boy Rafli was also the former Papua Police Chief.
