TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's National Police plans to reactivate the Nusantara Task Force to face the 2024 general elections.
The Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Inspector General Sandi Nugroho said that the personnel has been formed and currently waits for the administrative process to be fulfilled. "The task force will be a cooling system amidst the 2024 election preparation," said Sandi when met at Mabes Polri on Friday, July 7, 2023.
The administrative requirement, Sandi said is in the form of a task order issued by the National Police's security force unit, the Bhayangkara Corps.
In its implementation, the task force will be orchestrated by the police members as well as other stakeholders to help guarantee the success of the elections. "The National Police will bid all stakeholders and the public to create a peaceful election," Sandi said.
Previously, the Nusantara Task Force has been deployed to escort the 2018 regional election and the 2019 presidential election. It was overseen by the Former Head of the National Police Commissioner General Gatot Eddy Pramono.
