PT Freeport Provides Isolation Location for Employees

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As many as 51 employees of PT Freeport Indonesia in Tembagapura have been recorded positive with coronavirus or Covid-19 infection. From the total number, as many as 42 employees have conducted self-isolation.

"From the total number, as many as nine people are being treated in Tembagapura hospital, at the Tembagapura District, while the others are self-isolated," said spokesman for the Mimika Regency Covid-19 Task Force dr. Raynold Ubra in Jayapura on Saturday, May 2, 2020.

Based on circulating information, Raynold said that the self-isolation location is provided by PT Freeport. In additon to Covid-19 positive patients, self-isolation is also applied to employees under the patient under monitoring status.

"Currently there has been an isolation facility where those who are positive and considered to be patient under monitoring are being isolated," Raynold said.

Ubra, who is also the Head of Mimika Regency Health Agency said that based on reports, the isolated employees are employees of PT Freeport and employees of the companys sub-contractors.

PT Freeport spokesman Reza Pratama, said that currently, the operational condition of PT Freeport remains normal.

"PT Freeport Indonesia continues to coordinate and provide update to the Mimika Regency Covid-19 Task Force about the condition of the company," Reza said.
