TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director General of Disease Control and Mitigation of the Ministry of Health Achmad Yurianto urged the people to be aware of dengue fever.

"These past few months there is an increasing dengue fever infection because it is the transition period," Yurianto said in a video conference on Saturday, May 2, 2020.

Yurianto said that dengue fever is highly associated with efforts to control mosquitos, which transmits the disease.

Therefore, Yurianto urged the people to continue to eradicate mosquito nests. He added that if such activities continue to be taken, the government is certain that dengue fever can also be eradicated.

"Let us be a role model for our own family. This includes saving our neighbors, environment, and nation," Yurianto said.

Meanwhile, Director for Vector and Zoonotic Infectious Disease of the Ministry of Health Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that as of April 30, 2020, there are 50,112 dengue fever cases recorded in Indonesia and 315 people have died to the disease.
