Technology and coding school franchise, Koding Next, donates 15 3D printed face shields to Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar, on Monday, April 27, 2020.

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Technology and coding school franchise, Koding Next, has shown that technology can play a big part in the fight against COVID-19, by donating 15 3D printed face shields to Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar-Bali, on Monday, April 27, 2020.

“I am very excited and very happy that our community of parents, students and teachers, is able to donate 3D printed face shields to Indonesian hospitals,” stated Koding Next founder Bartek Wasik, as quoted from Koding Next’s Youtube video, on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.

The Bali branch of the coding school enlisted help from teachers and students in designing and producing the face shields. By learning the principles of design and 3D printing, Koding Next evaluates that students can contribute to combatting the pandemic by supplying the 3D printed elements of face shields to hospitals.

“We just started with the first batch in Bali, but we are going to continue it in Bali and Jakarta,” Koding Next Co-founder Mateusz Rybiski told Tempo Wednesday, April 29.

As one of the COVID-19 referral hospitals in Bali, Sanglah Hospital Human Resource Manager, Dewa Kresna, was thankful for receiving the donation. “In behalf of Sanglah hospital, I would like to thank the community for donating aid to Sanglah Hospital, as it is very helpful in handling COVID-19,” stated Dewa Kresna, as quoted from Koding Next’s Youtube video.

According to the official data from the Bali Provincial Government, as of April 29, the resort island has now recorded 215 COVID-19 positive cases, with 115 patients being treated, 96 having recovered while four being deceased.
