Govt Providing Health Facilities for Markets to Combat COVID-19

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In an effort to curb the COVID-19 outbreak, the Ministry of Trade will provide health and sanitation facilities for 157 markets in six provinces in Indonesia, which are Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Banten, and Yogyakarta.
“To handle the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry (of Trade) will also be providing health facility assistance for markets, which includes disinfection booths, hand sanitizers, masks and gloves, prioritized for vendors and customers," said Trade Minister Agus Suparmanto in a video conference in Jakarta, on Wednesday, April 29, 2020.
Specifically for Jakarta, the Ministry will be providing health and sanitation facilities to 20 traditional markets, including the Kramat Jati Market. The government has also established a ministerial Task Force geared to receive donations from market vendors and the public in the fight against COVID-19.
The Task Force will be coordinating and allocating the donations to those who need it most, such as medical personnel working in the frontlines of the COVID-19 outbreak. The donation will be in the form of monetary donations or medicines, medical devices, as well as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as masks, gloves, and face shields.
“The Ministry of Trade’s donations will be allocated to three hospitals, which are Budiasih Hospital, Tebet Hospital and Duren Sawit Hospital," Agus added.
