TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra party chairman and current defense minister Prabowo Subianto in a Twitter video defended President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo by asserting the president’s and the state cabinet’s commitment upon eradicating corruption.

The video was posted online via Prabowo’s Twitter account on Thursday, April 23, on which he also asserts that the government would never make decisions that would eventually harm its own people and encouraged people to unite in facing the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

“I can attest that Jokowi continues to fight for the interest of the country and the Indonesian people. I personally witness his decision making at close-range, which he always bases on the safety of its people who are the weakest or are impoverished,” said Prabowo Subianto in his video.

The former foe of Jokowi in two past presidential elections also asserts that the virus can be lethal people make reckless decisions and fail to take the necessary steps that need to be done.

“As a human being, we all make mistakes, we must have made less-than-favorable decisions [in the past]. But this is the moment where we must fill-in our weaknesses and improve on them, not by anger, not by scorns, and not through insults,” said Prabowo.
