TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta is on its 12th day of large-scale social restriction of PSBB. So far, the Jakarta Labor, Transmigration and Energy Department has shut down 34 businesses for violating PSBB rules.

The department's chief, Andri Yansah, said on Tuesday they had to force-close the companies until the PSBB period is over by April 23.

The governor's regulation on social restrictions in Jakarta only allows 11 key sectors to continue operating during this period. These means businesses engaged in health, food, energy, communication and IT, finances, logistics, hotels, construction, strategic industries, basic services, public utility, and industries categorized as vital national objects.

Nine of the 34 companies that were shut down are located in Central Jakarta; 14 in West Jakarta, four in North Jakarta, six in South Jakarta, and one in East Jakarta.

Forty-four other companies were given warnings as they have a permit to continue operating from the Industry Ministry.

The office also gave warnings to 203 businesses that are allowed to operate but neglected health protocols as mandated by the governor's regulation.

Andri pleaded to companies that are not allowed to operate to obey rules given the alarming rate of infection. "It is better to stay at home. The situation is really bad," he said.
