TEMPO Interaktif, Jakarta:

Jakarta Police questioned a mailing list moderator on libel charges filed by member of the House of Representatives from the National Mandate Party (PAN), Alvin Lie, for a publication on the mailing list.

Agus Hamonangan moderator on Forum Pembaca Kompas mailing list were summoned by the Cyber Crime Special Crime Directorate at the Jakarta Police headquarters for the publication of “Hoyak Tabuik Adaro dan Soekanto”, an article by local journalist Narliswandi.

Agus said he was surprised as “this was the first case against a mailing list moderator investigated by the police.”

The article was previously published in presstalk.info on June 18 2008.

Narliswandi wrote in the article that the PAN received money from coal mining company PT Adaro, through Alvin to avoid the house investigation on the company's initial public offering. The police have questioned Narliswandi on August 28th, where he faces possible sentence up to 6 years and fine of Rp 1 billion. Narliswandi regretted Alvin Lie's decision of taking the matter to the police instead of demanding to clarify the issue on media.
