TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - AirAsia Group is set to resume its domestic flights in several countries, including in Indonesia, which will be commenced on May 7.

Meanwhile, in Malaysia it will start on April 29, Thailand and the Philippines on May 1, and India on May 4, 2020. But it will all depend on the approval from the authorities.

“We are very pleased to be able to fly again and to serve our guests starting with domestic routes, and hope to resume full operations as soon as possible. We have undertaken a thorough review of our guest handling procedures both on ground and onboard in light of the Covid-19 pandemic,” President (Airlines) of AirAsia Group, Bo Lingam said in a press release received on Saturday, April 18.

The low-cost carrier collaborates with airport authorities to ensure that the relevant precautionary measures are in place to guarantee a safe and comfortable journey for everyone.

At the first stage of the resumption, the flights will be limited to certain domestic routes and it will gradually be increased to other routes including the international one once the situation improves and the COVID-19 restriction affecting flying activities is lifted.

The ticket is available on AirAsia website and mobile app. Further information regarding routes and flight schedules will soon be announced, subject to approval from related authorities.

Lingam said that his airline is prioritizing the safety and health of its passengers and employees. AirAsia is working actively with regulators, local governments, civil aviation and health authorities, as well as adhering to the World Health Organization (WHO) and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) guidelines.

"To ensure the highest standards of compliance and conformance are in place for every single flight we operate in our network,” he added.

The passengers are advised to practise the universally recommended protective precautionary measures including wearing a mask, social distancing and observing high personal hygiene.

AirAsia aircraft, which are fitted with hospital-standard High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters, will also be sent for a thorough disinfection after each flight.
