Over 47 Thousand Jakartans Partake in COVID-19 Rapid Tests

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the Jakarta Health Agency’s Health Resources, Ani Pusparini, said in today’s press conference that 47,588 residents had undergone COVID-19 rapid tests.
“1,791 of them, or 3.8 percent, had tested positive, while 45,797 tested negative,” said Ani in the press conference held at the City Hall.
She added that the rapid tests were being conducted in six administrative cities and districts along with Employee Health Implementing Center.
However, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan recently said that the underlying problem with COVID-19 rapid test equipment remains in its potentially significant error rate. Thus, he called for the use of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests that had a smaller margin of error.
The governor maintained that the high error rates in the COVID-19 test results could potentially cause the spread of the coronavirus in the city. Jakarta currently has 23 laboratories linked within the COVID-19 pandemic handling network that is able to conduct an average of 4,524 rapid tests daily.
