TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that the city administration is ready to enforce large-scale social restriction policy or PSBB in an effort to curb the coronavirus transmission on Friday, April 10.

The gubernatorial regulation on the PSBB, he added, has been completed, except the rules related to the operation of online ojek (motorcycle taxi).

“The drafting of the gubernatorial regulation has been completed. We are just waiting for coordination with the central government regarding the operational permit for online ojek,” said Anies in a teleconference at the City Hall on Wednesday, April 8. “We hope the decision is made tonight.”

Due to the strict physical distancing order, online ojek will reportedly be prohibited from transporting people. Thus the city administration was discussing the regulation with the online-based transport operators.

According to Anies, online ojek must abide by the protocol set in the PSBB which will commence on Friday. “They may be allowed to transport goods. Let’s wait for the final decision,” he added.

Anies Baswedan went on to say that he was coordinating with the provincial governments of West Java and Banten regarding the implementation of large-scale social restrictions in Jakarta and PSBB policies in its neighboring regions or Bodetabek, given Jakarta Greater Area becomes the epicenter of the COVID-19.

“The restrictions in Jakarta can be used as a reference. Hopefully [the regulations] will complete soon so it can stand as a joint guideline.”
