TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Health Minister Terawan Agus Putranto reportedly asked Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan to complete documents related to the city’s proposal to enforce large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) over the coronavirus outbreak.
Based on the copy of a letter received by Tempo, it was stated that the proposal submitted by Jakarta must be coupled with a number of data and documents noted in the Health Minister's Regulation related to the strict physical distancing.
Documents that must be completed include time-based data on the hike of the virus disease or Covid-19 cases number, time-based data on the spread of the virus, and the local transmission.
Anies is also asked to explain the readiness of the city to meet the basic needs of the people, health facilities and infrastructure, budgets and the implementation of social safety net, and security aspects.
The letter, which was inked by Terawan on April 5, further noted that the government’s decision to return the proposal had been discussed with the Covid-19 response task force.
When asked for confirmation, the COVID-19 response task force spokesman Achmad Yurianto was non-committal. “It is just an administrative matter. The discussion continues,” said Yurianto on Monday, April 6.
As reported earlier, Anies Baswedan requested on April 2 that the capital city should enact the large-scale social restrictions, as Jakarta remains to be the hardest-hit area in terms of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases and deaths.
