Jakarta Medical Workers Positive for Coronavirus Increase

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta COVID-19 task force recorded a growing number of the city’s medical worker that contracted the coronavirus. As of Tuesday, March 31, there are 81 medical workers who tested positive for the virus.
“As many as 81 medical staffs have been exposed to COVID-19,” said the Head of the COVID-19 task force, Catur Laswanto, in a virtual press conference from City Hall today, March 31.
The 81 people who tested positive are spread across 30 hospitals, which is a significant increase from the previous 50 in 24 hospitals.
Previously, Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said that the sheer number of medical staffs that contracted the virus shows the extreme levels of risk that face the city’s medical workers. He also asserted that thorough protection for medics is a must.
Moreover, Anies Baswedan said that the coronavirus rapid tests will be prioritized for medical workers across all fields. He also assured that the additional of personal protection equipment (PPE) for medics have been prepared.
“So they can be handled quickly once they show early symptoms,” said the governor regarding the rapid testing.
