TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bogor Deputy Mayor Dedie Rachim said that the city will not enter lockdown, but rather a partial regional quarantine and establishes RW Siaga Covid-19, the ready community units to encourage public alert on the coronavirus pandemic.

Dedie explained that the decision was taken since the regional administration was only allowed to enforce local quarantine at the level of housing complex, urban or sub-district areas.

“Areas with a high risk of the virus spread,” he said through a video conference at Bogor Covid-19 Crisis Center on Monday, March 30.

According to him, the key to end the transmission of the virus that caused Covid-19 is social distancing. By means, public movement or mass mobilization will result in a high risk of the virus contagion.

The city administration, he added, was urged to prepare restrictive measures in certain areas. Thus his side would immediately draft for the technical, invite chiefs of urban communities and other regional officers, as well as coordinate with subdistrict heads to make detailed preparation in their prospective area.

“We will set up ‘kampung siaga’ at the RW level,” Dedie added.

The Bogor administration will also ensure that the logistics of the basic needs of the people, medical devices, up to agricultural production during the coronavirus pandemic will not be hampered and secured, said the deputy mayor.

“The point is, closures or isolation that hinder agricultural production, distribution of fuel distribution and public staple needs are prohibited by the president,” Dedie concluded.
