TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X or Sultan HB X highlighted the central government's lack of transparency about areas included in the red zone category for the coronavirus spread.

Sri Sultan said that his provincial administration also questioned President Joko Widodo or Jokowi in light of the red zone.

"What we know so far, [the red zone] includes Jakarta and its surrounding regions only. The central government does not want to expose it, while it is useful for local governments to formulate policies," said Sri Sultan in Yogyakarta, Monday, March 30.

As the central government was tight-lipped on the red zone map of the coronavirus spread, he added, there are no governors in Java island who rejected the arrivals of people from other regions. The public movement is practically still wide open.

He expressed worries that without clear information about the red zone, the spread of the virus infection that caused Covid-19 would be easier and so, efforts to break the transmission chain would be getting harder and the burden builds up in regions.

Sri Sultan pinned hope that the lack of information would be immediately addressed. He elaborated a region that is declared a red zone must set policies that support it, such as the use of public and private transportation.

"To me, these things must be clear to break the transmission chain of the coronavirus," he concluded.
