TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - In a bid to restrict the transmission and curb the COVID-19 outbreak, a number of malls in Jakarta have decided to restrict operational hours, now opening from 11:00 and closing at 21:00 Jakarta time.

According to Grand Indonesia’s Instagram page, the mall has announced operational hours to be from 11:00-21:00 Monday to Sunday and national holidays, effective from March 23, 2020.

In addition to Grand Indonesia in Central Jakarta, a number of malls in West Jakarta such as Taman Anggrek Mall, Central Park, and Ciputra Mall have also restricted operational hours.

Aside from this, the Kota Kasablanka Mall in South Jakarta sets an even earlier time limit of 11:00-20:00 on Monday to Thursday and 11:00-21:00 on weekends and national holidays.

Similarly, Fx Sudirman imposed restrictions on operational hours from 10:00 to 20:00 on Monday to Thursday and 10:00 to 21:00 on Friday and Saturday, with Sundays and national holidays from 11:00-20:00.

Previously, Jakarta Chief of the Indonesian Shopping Center Association, Ellen Hidayat, stated that the association has set the warning level at 3 for COVID-19. Furthermore, the organization also tries to anticipate maintaining the health and hygiene of shopping centers by providing hand sanitizers and disinfectants.
