TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said the delegations from the Kingdom of the Netherlands had stated their commitment to supporting Indonesian tourism. Luhut met Dutch King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima Zorrequieta Cerruti in North Sumatra, Thursday, March 12, 2020.

"I asked King Willem to send some of their tourism practitioners to train our tourism staff and I also ask them to help us in developing our tourism," said Luhut on an official statement, Friday, March 13, 2020.

The minister said the Dutch practitioners will teach human resources in Indonesia who work in the tourism industry. They will also teach how to maintain the cleanliness of tourist attractions to attract more visitors, the minister added.

According to Luhut, with non-financial collaboration, Indonesia will see more foreign tourists from the Netherlands. This collaboration will be done especially for the tourist destination in North Sumatra.

Previously, King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima Zorreguieta Cerruti met with President Joko Widodo in the Bogor Palace. In that meeting, the Dutch Royal revealed its US$1 billion or worth Rp14.8 trillion investment in Indonesia which will be used for agricultural cooperation.
