TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Commission for the Protection of Children (Komnas Anak) appealed to the public not to make assumptions over the murder of a child by a teenager, which happened in North Jakarta's Sawah Besar district.

Komnas Anak chairman Arist Merdeka Sirait said it is not appropriate to draw up conclusions without ever meeting the teenager and knowing the full extent of the situation.

"It could damage the victim's family and the suspect herself," he said in Jakarta, Thursday, March 12.

Arist said that he would meet with the suspect at the police station in Kramat Jati today, March 12, to conduct observation and assessments. The results will be submitted to investigators.

"The Commission will provide recommendations of how the investigators must deal with the situation. The key lies with the investigators," he said.

Separately, the Kramat Jati Police Hospital's Psychiatric Team chief, Henny Riana, said NF was cooperative during her first day of psychiatric observation for the Visum et Repertum Psikiatrikum (VeRP). "She is still being cooperative," Henny said.

NF will undergo psychiatric observation for 14 days, referring to Law No.11/2012 on the Juvenile/Children Criminal Justice System. The test results, Henny said, will be reported to the police as legal material for the case's proceedings.
