Speedboat Accident in Sebangau River, 27 Victims Found

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of Public Relation of Central Kalimantan Regional Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, said that the rescue team have found all victims of the speedboat accident in Sebangau river which amounted to 27 people.

"In total there are 27 people of this accident including 20 people survived and undergoing treatment, and seven people dead," said Hendra at Palangka Raya, Tuesday, March 10, 2020.

The speedboat that is owned by Sebangau National Park (Taman Nasional Sebangau) and Indonesian Army (TNI) had an accident on Monday afternoon, March 09, 2020. The group was using the speedboat to check the location that will be visited by the King and Queen of the Netherlands today.

The seven people that were dead are Dandim 1011/ Kapuas Lieutenant Colonel Kav Bambang Kristianto Bawono, contract workers in the Sebangau and Manggala Agni National Parks Abi Damansyah, Mutiara, Tyas Novianti, Ibnu Yudhistira Hendrawan, Umrottus S and Mansyah.

Hendra said that the Dandim Kapuas body will be sent to his family at Klaten, Central Java today through a flight to Yogyakarta.

Now, Hendra said, some accident victims are being monitored because of their critical condition, they are Gebran from Netherlands Embassy, Wahid and Hadiyanto. "Their condition is still fine, but we were being informed that there are open wounds so we think we should monitor them," he said.

Although there was an accident occurred, Hendra said, they have not received information about the changing schedule of the King and Queen of the Netherlands' visit to Palangka Raya.
