TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s official spokesperson on the COVID-19 mitigation, Achmad Yurianto, said the two confirmed coronavirus patients currently treated at the RSPI Sulianti Saroso hospital are showing signs of improvements.

Yuri clarified that he has yet visited the patients but based on reports from the hospital’s director, the patients are regaining health.

“I went on the phone with the Sulianti Saroso hospital director, who suggests that the patients’ conditions are improving. They remain under isolation despite having no significant complaints as they were tested positive,” said Yurianto in a press conference at the Health Ministry Headquarters on Tuesday, March 3.

Based on his observation on the 31-year old ‘patient 01’ at the hospital on Monday, Yurianto said the patient was seen unassisted by an oxygen mask and was conducting activities with her mobile phone.

“She had no fever, rarely coughed, and was off of the oxygen mask,” he clarified.

Meanwhile, coronavirus ‘patient 02’ who is the 64-year old mother of patient 01 also showed similar improvements as she was seen sitting and reading. He said the older patient was also off oxygen assistance, had a body temperature of 37.5, still coughed but was not having difficulties in breathing.

On Monday, the two patients marked Indonesia’s first confirmed COVID-19 coronavirus cases who were infected due to an interaction with a foreign national in a dance event on February 14, 2020, that saw multinational participants.
