TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Administration will establish a command post serving as a center for monitoring, preventing and controlling the spread of coronavirus in the capital city, which so far remains free from the outbreak.

"Later there will be a command post, the complete information will be announced tomorrow, Monday. For sure, it will be a reference for all activities related to COVID-19, and a control center for monitoring, prevention and control of COVID-19," Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan said here on Sunday.

Besides, Jakarta will also set up a Corona Virus Response Team which will consist of all elements, not only from the Regional Work Units (SKPD) within Jakarta Province, but also elements from the central government and every stakeholders in the capital.

Such a collaboration is needed to enable swift response in anticipating the spread of the coronavirus in Jakarta which is the gateway to Indonesia.

"Why do we move quickly in anticipation? It's because Jakarta is the gateway to Indonesia. The arrivals of people, international interactions are mostly in Jakarta," Anies Baswedan remarked.

He hoped that the measures to be taken by the Jakarta Government would help the community feel calm, as the local government will be responsive. He called on the public to not panic or over-react.

"Carry out your activities as usual and do not spread the news that its truth has not been confirmed. However, please remain vigilant," he said.

He urged Jakartans to call 112 If they suspect a case similar to the symptoms of COVID-19, as the Jakarta health authorities would be ready to respond quickly.

"Also wash your hands frequently as the best prevention. And when you're coughing or having cold, wear a mask," he said.
