TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government is considering to use the KRI Soeharso floating hospital to bring home citizens from the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan. Although no decision is made yet, preparations are being made onboard the TNI Navy ship.

Antara reported logistics preparations were being made yesterday, February 20. The ship was also being refueled, and the decks were being installed with equipment for the evacuation mission. Military officers and medics from the Health Ministry were also seen passing by.

There are 78 Indonesians working as crew members of the Diamond Princess cruise ship currently docked in Japan's Yokohama Port. Four were tested positive with coronavirus and are now being treated in Japan's hospital.

The Indonesian government plans to bring home the 74 people who were not infected.

The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture, Muhadjir Effendy, previously said that the government has two options for repatriating the Indonesians from Japan. The first option is by sea, using the KRI Soeharso, and the other option is to fly them home.
