TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Yogyakarta State University (UNY) has officially enabled its students to pay for their tuition via digital payment OVO, which is accessed through e-commerce Tokopedia.

“Through several clicks in the app, students could now complete their payment quickly and easily. They could even complete the payment while lying down,” said UNY rector Sutrisna Wibawa on Wednesday, February 19.

Sutrisna believes that current millennial students are accustomed to numerous digital wallets to conduct daily transactions in shopping centers and e-commerce platforms. In addition, he went on, potential cashback deals will further allure students to use this platform.

UNY has partnered with the e-channel BTN and students can start paying their tuition via Tokopedia in the 2020/2021 semester.

"The benefits students can get from this payment method are cashback offers during a certain period of time, which depends if there are promotions. The campus will receive the full amount. There will be subsidies from Tokopedia and OVO that can help students during a certain promotion period,” said Sutrisna.

The Yogyakarta State University (UNY) will manage the funds through BTN, which is one of the state-owned banks that are entrusted to manage the country’s non-tax revenues.
