TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Toll Road Authority or BPJT confirmed that the implementation of Multi-Lane Free Flow will begin in December 2022 in several regions.
"We will launch the cashless toll payment system at the end of this year and it will be applied in Jakarta and several other regions," BPJT Head, Danang Parikesit said in Digital Payment Innovation G20, Monday, February 14.
Danang then said the new payment system will use "Cantas," a smartphone application that uses a Global Navigation Satellite System for payment.
Upon downloading Cantas, the drivers must fill in their vehicle information such as license plate, frame number, etc., before choosing the payment method.
The GPS in Cantas will also be connected to the satellite, so the system will automatically tap-matching the vehicle with the application upon entering the toll gate.
Furthermore, the system will calculate the distance traveled for the fee and automatically deduct the driver's balance registered in Cantas. BPJT also provided other cashless payment systems namely On-Board Unit and Electronic Route Ticket.
