TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Tjahjo Kumolo proposed Rp1 billion for the pension fund of civil servants or PNS.

“I have requested that when a state civil apparatus retires, he or she will get at least Rp1 billion,” said Tjahjo at Bidakara Hotel, Jakarta, on Monday, February 17.

According to Tjahjo, the government was mulling a program to increase the pension fund for state civil apparatus and personnel of the Indonesian Military (TNI) and National Police.

He said that the budget hike was part of the bureaucratic reform, and the government’s program did not only aim to cut echelon.

“But also identify existing structural jobs and choose which of them can be emerged to functional jobs, as well as the job allowance, salary hike, and pension disbursement system,” Tjahjo added.

Tjahjo claimed he had discussed the matter to Finance Minister Sri Mulyani, joking that the pension insurance belonging to TNI and National Police to be transferred to PT Taspen from initially PT Asabri following the graft case in the state insurer.

“If possible, the pension fund in Asabri is moved to Taspen considering 60 percent of the fund is gone,” said Tjahjo Kumolo.
