TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT MRT Jakarta will start work on the Phase II of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) railroad project. The construction is targeted to be completed in 58 months.

"After going through a fairly complicated process, Alhamdulillah, this is complete and has been signed," said Anies at the HI Roundabout, Central Jakarta, on Monday, February 17, 2020.

Anies said the first stage of phase II would begin with the construction of 2.8 km along the HI Roundabout to the Hayam Wuruk Harmoni road, Central Jakarta, with two stations set to be built, on Jalan MH Thamrin and Monas.

According to Anies, the MRT station has been designed to be integrated with other modes of transportation, during the Phase II construction. Anies emphasized for the construction to follow the schedule and budget.

PT MRT Managing Director, Wiliam Sabandar, stated that the contract value for the first stage of the phase II MRT construction with Shimizu-Adhi Karya JB reached Rp 4.5 trillion. The project will begin in March 2020 and is targeted for completion by December 2024.

"The contract value is around Rp 4.5 trillion and will be worked on for 58 months," he said.
