Ma'ruf Amin Says Omnibus Law will Help Property Sector

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin promised that the Draft of Omnibus Law on Labor can improve the performance of the property sector in the midst of global economic fluctuation.

"With the Law, it us expected that licensing including license to develop residential area, can be improved, faster, cheaper, and easier," Ma'ruf said at the Jakarta Convention Center on Saturday, February 15, 2020.

Ma'ruf also encourage the providing of houses to be improved. Within the last two years, in 2018 and 2019, the program had reached a number of more than 1 million units.

The Vice President added that the growth rate of new families continues to increase. The Vice President also highlighted the demographic bonus phenomenon until 2030. "So we cannot be complacent because our achievement still needs to be increased," Ma'ruf said.

Encouragement for the property sector is also done by the government by encouraging respective institutions to develop license digitalization processes, which will allow faster time to apply for licenses.

"Online license digitalization will gradually be integrated into an Online Single Submission [OSS] system," Ma'ruf said. The program is also expected to reduce the potential of illegal levies.

President Director of Bank Tabungan Negara Pahala Mansury said that the property sector can be an investment alternative in the midst of global uncertainty. Recently Pahala said, the global macroeconomic conditions are experiencing a slowdown. Furthermore, there are also issues related to geopolitical tensions and the coronavirus outbreak.
