TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Propertindo or Jakpro and the International Automobile Federation (FIA) released a video showing the racetrack of Formula E, which is slated to take place at the National Monument area or Monas. The 2.6 kilometer-long track is mostly located in the area of the city’s icon.

“Other than Monas, [the track is on] Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan only,” said Jakpro managing director Dwi Wahyu Daryoto at Novotel Hotel, Central Jakarta, Friday, February 14.

As displayed on the video footage, the racetrack will run in a clockwise direction from Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan. “[It will start] in front of the City Hall, the office of the Jakarta governor,” as noted in the video.

The track will start and finish before Anies Baswedan's office before making its way through Monas with 12 turns: eight right turns and four left turns. The maximum speed of the electric cars was expected to reach 220 kilometers per hour. The race, scheduled on June 6, 2020, will last for 45 minutes.

Since the track of Formula E is located in Monas, Dwi said that the committee was mulling over lifting the monument’s cobblestone paths and installing asphalt or covering the natural stone with asphalt. The asphalt to be used would adhere to the FIA standard, which is the Grade 3 one, he added.
