TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Secretary of the State Secretariat Ministry Setya Utama balked at commenting on the alleged manipulation committed by Jakarta provincial administration in light of the permit to use the National Monument or Monas for Formula E.

Setya said that his side could not make a decision over the matter. “I have no capacity to respond to it. That’s under the authority of the Monas Steering Committee,” he told Tempo on Thursday, February 13.

Today, Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) speaker Prasetyo Edi Marsudi visited the State Secretariat Ministry and met with Setya for talks of the alleged manipulation. However, Setya remained silent when asked about the meeting result.

Earlier reports suggested that Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan claimed he had obtained the recommendation to use Monas for the electric cars race from the city’s cultural heritage team of experts (TACB).

Meanwhile, the TACB head Mundardhjito clarified on Wednesday that his side had never granted the recommendation in which setting the cultural heritage as the racing venue because of the vital history of Monas.
