TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Heavy rain showering Jakarta since early morning today, Feb. 8, has flooded several areas in the city including the recreation site Ancol Dreamland, North Jakarta. The floodwater inundated the area of Ancol west gate.

Antara News reported that until 12:00, the water level was recorded from 15 to 30 centimeter (cm) along Lodan Raya street until inside the Ancol area.

The inundation was caused by the overflowing Ancol River and the rainwater that didn't flow. An officer at Ancol sluice said that it occurred since 05:00 during the heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, a number of visitors intending to enjoy their weekend in Ancol were forced to cancel their visit due to the flood. "We're not going there, it's flooding outside, how is it gonna be in the inside," said one of the visitors, Dirmamsyah.

Based on data from the official website of a flood post agency Jakarta Water Resource as per 12:00 today, the status at Jembatan Merah sluice was recorded at alert 1 with the water level at 241 centimeters (cm). It raised the status at Marina Ancol sluice to alert 2 with the water level of 200 cm, 30 cm higher than the normal height of 170 cm.
