TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), Lieutenant General Doni Monardo says the agency is preparing several scenarios to mitigate possible future novel coronavirus cases in Indonesia, which includes determining a location that will be converted into an isolation area.

“We must think of scenarios as the President has asked for. Yes, one of them is to determine a location that is relatively far from residential areas,” said Doni in Jakarta today, Feb. 5.

The BNPB leader has communicated with the Indonesian Armed Forces’ (TNI) Commander, Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto as to find the perfect location to isolate and medically treat patients infected with the virus.

As of now, an area in Natuna, Riau Islands has been set up as a location to monitor the hundreds of Indonesians repatriated from Wuhan, China.

Previously, President Jokowi reminded state-agencies to prepare a mitigation plan to handle coronavirus cases in Indonesia; “We must have a scenario in place in case it happens. Even though we do not want it to happen,” said the president at the BNPB national coordination meeting in West Java’s SICC on Tuesday, February 4.
