Gus Solah, Brother of Late President Gus Dur, Dies at 77

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Salahuddin Wahid or also known Gus Solah passed away on Sunday, February 2. The younger brother of the late president Abdurrahman Wahid or Gus Dur reportedly will be laid to rest in Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School in Jombang, East Java.
"Gus Solah dies at 8:55 p.m. Please forgive all of his mistakes," said Irfan Wahid, reciting prayers for his father, on Sunday.
Born in Jombang on September 11, 1942, the religious leader is the grandson of the founder of the country's largest Islamic organization Nahdlatul Ulama, KH Hasyim Asy'ari. He is a scholar, activist, politician who was once a member of the People's Consultative Assembly after Soeharto stepped down from the government.
He had also served the Deputy Chair of the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM). In the 2004 presidential election, he was the running mate of Wiranto yet the pair failed because it ranked third.
The caretaker of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School died at the age of 77 after underwent medical treatment at Harapan Kita Hospital, Jakarta.
