TEMPO.CO, Batam - As many as 243 Indonesians evacuated from Wuhan City, Hubei province, China due to the coronavirus outbreak reportedly will arrive on Saturday, February 1, at Hang Nadim International Airport, Batam.

The flight information is as noted in the letter of the chartered flight permit of Batik Airlines number A330. The evacuation plane will depart from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to Wuhan Airport and directly fly to Batam Airport.

The Head of the Batam Health Agency, Didi Kusmardji, said the city administration was discussing the process of the evacuation in the region. “We have attended meetings with the police and others,” he said.

However, Didi claimed discussions on the location for the quarantine was still afoot. “One of the location options is Batam Center Hajj Dormitory.”

Didi went on to say that at present there was one suspected coronavirus case in Batam, and the patient is put under intensive treatment.

Earlier reports suggested that President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo ordered on Thursday, January 30, an immediate evacuation of Indonesians from Wuhan city, the epicenter of the deadly virus that has claimed the lives of 243 people so far.
