Govt to Quarantine Coronavirus Evacuees in Hajj Dorm

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government plans to quarantine its citizens who will be evacuated from Hubei Province, Central China, following the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus.

“(They) will be quarantined at Hajj Dormitory for 28 days or two incubation periods. This includes the entire team on the plane from Jakarta that picked them up," said a government official who was informed of the discussion of the evacuation process and quarantine preparation, to Tempo, on Thursday, January 30, 2020.

Presently, as reported by the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing, there are 243 Indonesians spread across 7 locations in China, including in Wuhan City, which is the capital of Hubei Province.

As reported out by Reuters, the coronavirus outbreak has claimed 170 lives in the epicenter of the pandemic, Wuhan City. The virus also infected more than 7,700 people with the majority of the cases being in China.

A number of countries that have also discovered coronavirus infection in their respective regions are the United States, Thailand, Australia, Malaysia, and Singapore.

The Indonesian Government is continuing the preparations for the evacuation process of its citizens from Hubei Province.

“Currently, domestic preparations are being readied and (we are) ensuring the logistics management of moving Indonesian citizens from 7 points in Hubei Province to the pick-up location (Airport in Wuhan) before the plane arrives there," as stated in an official release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs received by Tempo, on Thursday, 30 January 2020.
