BMKG Forecasts Heavy Rain for One Whole Week

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) in its latest weather forecast predicts high-intensity rainfall will pour over Jakarta and other Indonesian regions for the coming week up to February 3.
Head of BMKG’s head of weather early warning, Agie Wandala Putra, explained that the cyclonic circulation over the vicinity of the Indonesian Ocean, southwest of Lampung, increases the possibility of heavy rainfall in Indonesia’s western regions.
“The cyclonic circulation has formed a whirlwind above the atmosphere,” said Agie Wandala on Monday, January 27.
This type of cyclonic circulation has formed a pattern of air masses in North Sumatera’s western area up to its southern area which could produce a thundering storm over the Java island.
BMKG deputy of meteorology Mulyono R. Prabowo said in a written statement that West Sumatra and Bengkulu will be on alert from January 28-29 due to the possibility of floods.
