TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ahead of Chinese New Year or Imlek, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasted that rain will continue showering Jakarta on Friday afternoon, January 24.

Based on the agency’s weather forecast, the capital city areas generally will have cloudy weather in the morning, except the Thousand Islands, North Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and West Jakarta that will see light-intensity rain.

On Friday afternoon, Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands are expected to experience light-intensity rain, while the potential medium intensity of rain may occur in South Jakarta and East Jakarta.

The rainy weather will likely resume until late at night with a light to medium intensity. Thus, Jakarta will have cooler air temperature ranging at 24-32 degrees Celcius with a humidity level of 80-95 percent.

BMKG further called on Jakartans to beware of medium to heavy rains with thunderstorms and strong winds in all Jakarta areas in the night.
