TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Jakarta Immigration Office will deport 13 foreign nationals from Africa due to violation of residence permit. The 13 people were nabbed in two apartments in West Jakarta. They are 10 Nigerians, two from Ivory Coast, and one from Guinea Bissau.

"We've conducted surveillance, observation, and we collected data for a week before executing the field operation," said the immigration office chief Novianto in Jakarta, Tuesday on January 21, 2020.

According to the Immigration Office, the foreign nationals freely entered Indonesia with a tourist visa.

The Immigration confirmed that the foreigners were suspected of violating article 75 and article 78 paragraph 3 of Immigration Law No. 6/2011. They violated the residence permit for settling for more than 60 days.

The authorities confiscated passports, cell phones, and laptops belonged to the African nationals.

Novianto said the deportation would be soon conducted. "We'll do further investigations whether the 13 foreigners committed other violations or if there were other agencies committing other violations," he said.
