TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted that heavy rain and possible thunderstorms will hit Jakarta and its surroundings until Thursday, January 23.
Not only in the Jakarta Greater Area or Jabodetabek, but the weather forecast is also valid for several other regions from Aceh to Papua Province.
The bad weather is attributable to the cyclonic circulation activity around Karimata Strait which increased the potential growth of rain clouds in the country’s western parts, the agency announced through its official website.
Especially for Jakarta today, January 21, an early weather alert has been issued. "Beware of potential rain with thunderstorms and strong winds of short duration in South Jakarta and East Jakarta in the afternoon," it noted.
East Jakarta is also expected to be hit by stormy rain from the morning and local rain during the day with the air temperature ranging from 24 to 32 degrees Celsius and the humidity level of 80-95 percent.
South Jakarta will see possible local rain during the day with the air temperature at 24-32 degrees Celsius and a humidity level of 80-95 percent.
The BMKG said that rain is also expected to shower West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, and the Thousand Islands since the morning. Central Jakarta and North Jakarta will possibly have stormy rain in the morning with the air temperature at 25 to 31 degrees Celsius and the humidity level of 85 to 95 percent.
