TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that Hurricane Claudia forming in the southern part of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) or the northern region of Australia has caused weather anomalies in Bandung.

“Hurricane Claudia is expected to dissipate in the next two days,” said Head of BMKG Tony Agus Wijaya on Wednesday, January 15.

Not only Bandung, but he also said the hurricane has shifted the course of wind in West Java with the reduction of rain clouds over Bandung Raya and the southern part of West Java. This effectively caused the regions to experience light rain under a sunny-cloudy situation.

However, the BMKG said the weather anomaly will not affect areas in West Java’s northern coast (Pantura) such as Indramayu, Cirebon, and Majalengka, which will still endure medium-intensity rain.

BMKG said this extreme weather anomaly caused the light to heavy storms in several areas before it returns to the normal rainy season cycle in West Java.
